What is Henna?

Henna is used in over 60 countries and is used not only as an adornment, but also as medicine and in beauty products.

Henna is a plant.  The leaves are picked and left to dry and then ground down to a fine powder.  It is the strongest natural dye known to man.

Henna only stains the dead skin or the upper epidermis (top layers of the skin).

As a powder it is olive green.  When applied to skin it dries to form a crust and flakes off.  The stain will be orangey-brown initially, but will deepen considerable over 48-hours.

The longevity of the stain or tattoo varies from person to person and the quality of henna, but generally will last from one to three weeks.

Beware of Counterfeit Henna

We only use the highest quality henna.  We do not use “what is commonly” referred to as BLACK HENNA.  There is not such thing as Black Henna.

The product, which is typically used for tattoos and is black is the chemical PPD (phenyleneiamine), It is extremely dangerous and is known to cause blistering, scarring, rashes, open lesions, intense itching and burns.  Once in the blood stream PPD can cause liver and kidney damage.
